SEEING IS BELIEVING

How long can you possibly sit down to read a long piece of written work? I personally would only do so if it is really an interesting piece. However, I prefer visuals to written pieces. In my previous blog posts, I have had several images and slideshows to accompany my posts. Today, I switch slightly to more vivid presentation through the video link below. Ladies, if you have aspired to hit the gym and work on your physique, then this is definitely good stuff for you:

You notice something; exercise is great when accompanied by music. Next time you are lifting the weights and running on the trend mill, make sure to play some music. Not any music though; some rock or techno music works perfectly.

As I wrap up, I call upon all you ladies who feel you need to cut some weight and lose that belly fat. You must not necessarily sign up for a gym session, little effort such as jogging every morning, doing some regular sit ups, press ups and squats would be great for a start.

It is said that practice practice makes perfect. If you followed the “Slim possible show” aired at Citizen TV sometime back last year, then you agree with me that indeed weight loss is possible with determination and perseverance. At the end of it all, you may not be a fitness model but at least you will have attained your ideal weight.

HEALTHIER ARE THOSE WHO WORKOUT.

https://soundcloud.com/tom-wanjala/workout-to-burn-food-chemicals

Working out has more benefits than you can imagine. Michael Gichagi famously known as Coaches, is a fitness and karate  trainer at the  Fitness Gym and Aerobics in Ongata Rongai, Nairobi. The 33 year-old coach says that apart from the many reasons why people workout, there is one looked down reason- Food chemicals that we consume daily should be removed from our bodies ! With the new technology, food has not been left behind. Genetically modified foods and other fast foods are the order of the day and mostly consumed by urban dwellers.

One thing that most people do not know is the presence of harmful chemicals found in these foods. day in day out we feed on chemicals, thinking we are getting nutrients. This has resulted in many lifestyle diseases that can easily be avoided. It is from this angle that Coaches says that  one who loves himself or herself should workout regularly in the gym to get rid of these harmful chemicals. To listen to him, click on the above link.

ONE ON ONE WITH A MALE FITNESS MODEL

PATRICK MWENDA’S INTERVIEW

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Below is a link to an audio interview of one Multimedia University’s male fitness model, Patrick Mwenda. Patrick tells me of his workout plans, appropriate diet for a healthy and fit physique as well as modelling events he has participated in:

Indeed it calls for determination to maintain the discipline of a fitness model. It is crystal clear that the two inevitable practices of any aspiring fitness model are regular body exercises and a healthy diet, preferably food with little or no calories. Junk food should be avoided at all cost.
As patrick says, one’s physique is a central element in the modelling industry. You got the height? Then work on your chest, arms, abs, thighs and drink plenty of water.

To anyone in Multimedia University aspiring to be the next Mr. or Miss MMU, it is high time you started laying your strategy in terms of your general outlook, recheck your wardrobe and get the posture right before hitting the runway come November.
You have a dream of being a fitness model, do not despair; give it a try and surely the sky is the limit.

Going Green.

Today we are going green!! I know you are probably used to getting 5-10 tips on my articles, but today the above clip will guide you on the 10 veggies with the the most benefits.but that does not mean i have nothing to add and if there’s one thing that has never been disagreed upon by nutritionist and I assure you philosophers will back me up is the nutritional value of vegetables. To emphasize on this further I shall share a story my mum told me when I was little.

Long ago there lived a king called Nebuchadnezzar that ruled over an empire called Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar was very wealthy and so was his kingdom, he had conquered so many cities and his most recent was Jerusalem where the Israelites lived. One day the King decided that he wanted to teach a few Israelites the literature and language of the Babylonians. He chose four young men and among them was a boy named Daniel. Living like the Babylonians meant eating like them, but Daniel and his friends had made up their minds that they would not defile themselves with the royal delicacies. The court official taking care of Daniel and his friends was worried that if they did not eat like the royal delicacies the difference will be noted and he would lose his job. Therefore Daniel bargained with the court official so that he would feed them with vegetables and water and after ten days he would compare them with the rest who ate the royal delicacies. Indeed, after ten days their appearance was better and their bodies were healthier than all the young men who had been eating the royal delicacies.

The moral of this story is, apart from the fact that we can live on vegetables and water for a week, is also that we should strive to incorporate veggies in all our meals, breakfast included, in fact if you are on a journey to weight loss I would advise vegetables only for supper , and you will thank me for the results.

EXERCISE BIKES/ROVERS

master-STA033recumbent-exercise-bike231463613

Hello! I know it has been a while since I posted in here, blame it on the numerous class projects I am having, however let me take this time to educate you about exercise bikes or better known as exercise rovers. You have probably seen most of them in gymnasiums, sport centers and for some of you at home; these are static bikes that serve the purpose of a normal bi and tricycles.
Cycling has been proven to be one of the best exercises for body fitness with the following as some of its benefits.
1. Builds strength and muscle tone
2. Increases muscle tone
3. Builds stamina
4. Improves cardio-vascular fitness
5. Eats up calories
6. Improves heart health
7. Improves coordination
8. Reduces stress

With the following in mind one would question the difference between exercise bikes and regular bikes and which one is more effective…here is Tom Wanjala a Fitness artist from Kenya.

Smart Start

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After saying a prayer to bless the day ahead, do you make an effort to plan on what you are going to have for breakfast or is it one of those things that are foreign to your tummy? Breakfast is the most important meals the day, so don’t think skipping it is going to help you cut some calories or maintain your weight. Three reasons why it is important is:

  1. Provides energy for the rest of the day

When you are asleep, the body is in a form of a fast, and that is why most of the times when we wake up, we are usually being harassed by hanger pangs, therefore, the moment you have a well balanced breakfast; carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins, all of this is used up by the body and hence generates energy that will leave you stronger for the rest of the day.

  1. Helps you burn more calories

Breakfast as well as exercising determines how much energy your body will need during the day, in that it increases your metabolism and that is why people who prioritize on having breakfast are more successful in weight loss. It also prevents you from nibbling snacks during the day because you are hungry.

  1. Saves money

Yes a healthy breakfast will help you save those coins that you use buying snacks every time you are having a break.

So from today on add breakfast to the list of virtues to uphold and you will not regret it, but remember just because it has been said to be the most important meal of the day does not mean that you overindulge in it. Just take what your body needs.
